Massive Open Online Course – Spoken Tutorial

30th November, 2015: As directed by Commissionerate of Collegiate Education, Govt. of Telangana, Hyderabad, Circular No. 1/CCE/TSKCMC-Online Courses-Pilot/2015-16, dated: 05.11.2015, Dr. P. Rajani, Principal, Government Degree College, Begumpet, Hyderabad, constituted a Committee on 06.11.2015 to take forward the Online course pilot project – Libre Office- Spoken Tutorial.
The Spoken Tutorial Project is the initiative of the “Talk to a Teacher” activity of the National Mission on Education through information and Communication Technology (ICT), launched by the Ministry of Human Resources and Development, Government of India. The Spoken Tutorial Project is being developed by IIT Bombay for MHRD, Government of India.

The Online course- LIBRE OFFICE - WRITER was inaugurated by the principal, Dr. P. Rajani on 30th November, 2015. 166 students from III B.A, B.Com and B.Sc with computer science/applications subject,  got registered for the 60 Hours Program. The online course was successfully completed.


On 10th February, 2016, an interactive session was held with Honourable Deputy Chief Minister, Sri Kadiyam Srihari garu,  regarding online course, Spoken Tutorial – LIBRE OFFICE WRITER. The students of our college participated in the interactive session convened by  Smt. Vani Prasad garu, Commissioner of Collegiate Education. Ms. Sruthi, Swetha, Mounika and Ambica from III B.Sc, M.S.Cs participated in the programme. The Honourable Deputy Chief Minister, Sri Kadiyam Srihari garu appreciated the efforts put up by the college in implementation and successful completion of the Online Spoken Tutorial Course in Government Degree College, in the state of Telangana for the first time.

On 30th January, 2016, an agreement was made between Government Degree College for Women (Autonomous), Begumpet, Hyderabad and Spoken Tutotial (ST), IIT Bombay. According to the agreement the college has been made as Resource Centre for Spoken Tutorial Project, IIT Bombay. The project is sponsored by National Mission on Education through ICT (NMEICT), MHRD, Govt. of India.

The status is being conferred upon the Institution to effectively implement the self learning based software training methodology to all the Students / Scholars / Staff at its premises, in a time bound manner, with Institutional awareness activities and later spread awareness of the project as a role-model for other Colleges under its affiliating University, later in various educational Institutions across India
