The mission of the college is to empower young women to be able to fight the challenges of life with courage and commitment and to become the builders of a just and humane society. Thus, the college promotes a value-based learning community where everybody contributes to holistic growth. In pursuance of this mission, the college has set the following objectives:

About College

Government Degree College for Women, Begumpet, Hyderabad was established in 1971. It is located centrally at Begumpet and caters to the needs of the girl students of twin cities and also the nearby districts. The college provides university education to deserving candidates in a secular atmosphere and is committed to serve the economically weak, socially underprivileged and needy students. During the last four decades the college has grown from strength to strength and presently helps about 2000 students to access higher education. With an objective of “Empowerment of Women through Knowledge”, the college helps the students to become truly empowered citizens. The college celebrated its Silver Jubilee in 1996.

  • GDCW, Hyd conducted Mega JOb Mela Drive in association with Sheetal Solutions on 10/05/17.Companies like Tech Mahendra, Genpack,Polaris, Karvey etc are involved. Total 294 applied 284 students got jobs
  • District Resource Centre and women empowerment cell of GDCW, Begumpet is organizing 2 days work shop on legal awareness programme on laws related to women incollboration with Telangana state commission for women. Honourable chairperson of the commission Dr.Tripurana Venkataratnam garu inaugurated the programme.
  • ILM - Institute of Language and Management, Banglore, Campus Drive- 41 girls got selected
  • ADP Campus Drive on 16.12.2016 Students got selected for positions Process Associate with CTC of 2 lakhs per annum
  • A.Prasanna Laxmi Sri B.COM III year and Mamatha B.SC III year Secured 6th place in 46th Senior Inter district tournament at Ramagundam from 5th to 8th June.
  • A.Prasanna Laxmi Sri B.COM III year and Mamatha B.SC III year secured 2nd place in Sakshi Arena One womens doubles.
  • A.Prasanna Laxmi Sri B.COM III year and Mamatha B.SC III year Secured 4th place and 2nd place in 44th Junior Nationals at Gujarat State wise team championship from 31th March to 2nd April.
